Mathematics at Bayview Secondary College provides our students with the skills to achieve a range of numeracy competencies for real world and future education and career pathways. Our students work across key competency areas which include number and algebra, measurement, data and statistics and space and geometry. Students participate in a range of activities designed to help them to confidently apply critical and creative thinking skills to solve mathematical problems.
Science at Bayview Secondary College provides students with the knowledge and skills to understand the world around them. Our students work across the areas of Chemistry, Biology, Earth Science and Physics while applying the creative design thinking process to investigate and understand real world problems.
What is STEAM? STEAM is a teaching method that combines the learning areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics to promote real-life learning with innovative applications in a students’ world. By combining science and the arts, students become more creative, scientifically literate, ethically astute, and prepared for the future workforce. Research studies show that the future workforce will require employees to have a diverse skill set with employers showing preference to those with experience in STEAM projects and concepts. Furthermore, our approach ensures that all students from varying learning abilities and interests are catered for in STEAM programs which promote happy, positive and engaged learners.
